Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul & Mary to perform in Green Bay May 22nd

I don’t care if you don’t follow folk music, if you grew up within the last 50 years, then you know the song “Puff, the Magic Dragon” by Peter, Paul & Mary.  The author and singer Peter Yarrow will be coming to Green Bay for a special concert.  It’s being held May 22nd at Washington Middle School.

I absolutely love the Puff, the Magic Dragon book I bought when it came out in 2007; it comes with a CD featuring the song. The artwork is wonderful and my kids really enjoy the book. Very cool to see that music and the message that comes with Yarrow’s work can span generations.

My best friend growing up was Kim. We used to play the crap out of her parents’ albums (younger readers, those are those giant black discs that came before CDs) including Peter, Paul & Mary. I could listen to their version of “If I Had a Hammer” a million times and never get sick of it.

All concert proceeds will be donated to Operation Respect, an anti-bullying campaign founded by Yarrow.  According to the Wiki, “In some form, the project has reached nearly ⅓ of all elementary and middle schools in America; at least 20,000 schools, in all.”

Concert tickets are only $10 and can be purchased by calling Washington Middle School at 920-448-2095.

I don’t know about you, but only $10 to see someone who was part of a legendary trio is a no-brainer.  And help support a good cause, even better!
