National Trails Day June 2nd & State Park Open House Day June 3rd

The nice weekend weather forecast is perfect for some outdoor events.  Saturday June 2nd is National Trails Day where state trail passes are not required (you’ll still need vehicle admission stickers, though)  Sunday, June 3rd is free admission to all Wisconsin parks, forests, recreation areas and trails on State Park Open House Day.

Some of the state parks and trails in our area include:

  • Hartman Creek State Park, Waupaca, 715-258-2372
  • High Cliff State Park, Sherwood, 920-989-1106
  • Peninsula State Park, Fish Creek, 920-854-5976
  • Potawatomi State Park, Sturgeon Bay, 920-746-2890

In case you’re wondering (because I always forget myself) Heritage Hill State Park is not an “official” state park even though it’s in their name.  The land is owned by the state but they operate as a non-profit organization and not as part of the state park system.

Don’t forget that it’s also FREE Fishing Weekend in Wisconsin, too.

For more information, check out the Wisconsin State Park System website.
