Packers Family Night August 3rd

Yay!  Green Bay Packers Family Night has returned for another year.  This year’s bash will be Friday August 3rd.  Events  kickoff at 6:30pm.

Do you all remember how these family nights started?  The practice scrimmage drew such large crowds that they moved it from the practice field into Lambeau.  That first year was ridiculously hot out–in the 90′s.  And thousands of us were melting in the stands.  To watch a practice.  Only in Green Bay, right?

So the Packers moved the scrum to the night and also added giveaways (the jerseys worn by players are given away) and fireworks.  I have some unbelievable photos of the players from that first year because we were on the 50-yard line and about 10 rows up.

I think that is what makes Packers Family Night so appealing.  People who could never afford to take their whole family to a game can go to Family Night.  For me, it’s a chance to sit in a different place than where our season tickets are located.  And Family Night always fall on or within a day or two of my son’s birthday.  Easy birthday present!

Tickets go on sale June 25th; cost is $10 + $3 service charge per ticket.  Parking is another $5 with proceeds going to the Wendys Wonderful Kids foster kids adoption program.

Can’t make it to the scrimmage?  You can watch the scrimmage live on WLUK-Fox 11 or on fox11online.com.
