Save your Sanity: Buy Bridging Books for Summer

Just a few more weeks until school lets out.  But I’m not sweating as much as I used to since I heard about Bridging Books.

They are workbooks for kids to use during the summer months.   It’s the perfect way to keep my two oldest kids occupied for a short time every weekday.  Plus, it keeps their school skills sharp.

Where do you get them?  School House in Ashwaubenon, The Learning Shop in Appleton, heck, you can even find some at Sam’s Club (although they are less structured)   They have several types available and also have activity cards you can purchase as well.  When I was in School House recently, there was a whole section at the front of the store.

The Bridging Books are divided into days of lessons.  There is usually a language arts page and one math page for each weekday.  When the tasks are completed, there is usually a reward sticker to put on a chart that is available inside the books.  We take the chart out of the book and put it on the fridge so the kids can see their progress.

If you’d like to see what the inside of one brand of Bridging Books offer, you can check out the manufacturing website here.  The sample pages start around page 6.  There is even an online activity center you can use if you have an activation code found in your bridging books.

Obviously, there are times when we don’t get to the books.  It is summer, after all!  Lucky for me my kids are still such school nerds that they frequently will do two or three days of activities at once to keep on schedule.
