Taking out the Trash: football is in the air!

Time for another edition of Taking out the Trash, the semi-regular posts that may or may not have something to do with saving money but are not specific deals.  I have a lot on my mind so I’m cleaning out the “garbage” in my head by Taking out the Trash.

A reminder that if you sign up for the Coupons.com Savings Club during the month of Septmeber, you’ll get a one year membership for FREE.  You’ll also gain access to higher-value coupons than you find on the regular Coupons.com site and exclusive coupons not available anywhere else.  This is such a fantastic program that yes, I will mention it throughout the month because I know not every Green Bay Consumer subscriber reads every word I write. :-)

As you may have noticed, now that the minions are back in school, I’ve started to do grocery store match-ups again.  Due to the amount of time they take, there was just no way to do them during the summer months with all four kids around.  I’m also wondering which match-ups you use the most.  Please feel free to leave a comment here or on the Facebook page.

I’m also going back to posting 6 days a week so you can get those store match-ups on Sundays, starting bright and early with Festival Foods match-ups.  If emails six days a week is too much for you, there is a weekly email option, but please realize that some of the information may be out-of-date when you get it.

More good news for you and me–I’ve suckered convinced someone into helping out with Green Bay Consumer so this can be an even better local resource for you.  I’ll be introducing that person in the next few weeks.

I didn’t get to mention it earlier, but Kmart has a lot of summer items on clearance.  When I was there the other day, I saw kids “crocs” and other summer footwear as low as $2.99.  Lots of clothing, too.   If you get All You magazine,  make sure you take along the 25% off coupon that was in the September issue   It’s good on any women’s apparel including clearance items.  Stay away from their toy clearance which is not really a clearance at all–maybe 10% off.

I am log-jammed with a ton of products that I’m testing.  So be warned that next week I’ll be sharing a lot of product reviews.  And I’ll be sharing the who/what/when/where/why you can sign up to try new products for free or cheap.  You do not have to have a blog/website to do it (but in some cases, it doesn’t hurt).  I asked on Facebook last week, but I’ll ask again.  You can help me out by telling me which ones you really want to hear about.  Here are your choices–leave a comment here on the website as to which ones you’re interested in hearing more about:

  • 5-hour Energy
  • Nerf Fire Vision football
  • Knorr Homestyle Stock
  • Arm & Hammer  Plus OxyClean Crystal Burst Detergent
  • Woolite Complete
  • Dell Laser printer
  • UNreal candy bars
  • Cover Girl w/Olay makeup
  • Glade Expressions Collection
  • Telestrations Board Game

I’m sure I’m forgetting a few, too!

Notable weekend events include free admission to the Botanical Garden and a free tailgate party on The CityDeck.

Last week we took the kids to a high school football game.  For $10, it was a very enjoyable time.  And I got to cheer on my alma mater, watch the dance squad and more.   If you’re looking for something to do with the family, supporting the local team is a great inexpensive option.

And speaking of football, are you ready?  The first Green Bay Packers game of the regular season is this weekend.  I know we’re all wishing the Green & Gold the best as they take on the 49ers. Nothing says fall to me like cooling temperatures and football.  And tailgate food.   Lots of tailgate food. :-)

Hope you all have a great weekend!
