Taking out the Trash: Fall fun!
Time for another edition of Taking out the Trash, the semi-regular posts that may or may not have something to do with saving money but are not specific deals. I have a lot on my mind so I’m cleaning out the “garbage” in my head by Taking out the Trash.
Fall is in the air! This is my favorite season for so many reasons: apple picking, leaves changing colors, football (going to see my alma mater tonight!), crisp mornings turning into moderate-temperature days, pumpkin pie, cider, haunted houses, hayrides and so much more!
Two month-long dining deals I don’t want you to forget about as you partake in fall activities:
Kids Eat Free. I want to compile a list of restaurants that regularly offer free kids meals. The now-defunct GB Savers had a list compiled, but I know that there have been many changes since it was put together. We can gather a lot of the national chain restaurant info ourselves but need help with the locally-owned places. Please feel free to leave a comment so we can get that put together for your reference.
Thanks so much for giving Kristin a warm welcome to the wonderful world of “blogging”. She’s a great asset to Green Bay Consumer! I’ve already got her chained to her computer, typing up information on all the great fall activities, haunted attractions and more.
My family was very involved with the March of Dimes Haunted House in the 1980s and 1990s, so I have a soft spot for all those great haunted houses that are usually raising money for a cause, too!
One of the many lifelong friends I made at the M.O.D. is a great guy who runs a website called Made Ya Scream. Doug specializes in haunted attraction photography but also takes “regular” photos as well. You’ll be seeing some of his artwork as Green Bay Consumer Facebook Timeline Cover Photos. If you like his work, he’s for hire! Thanks much, Doug!
Speaking of which, we’ll have a spot on our home page for all those on-going fall activities, much like we did with our Summer Fun section. We’ll also do a weekly round-up of some of the major events going on. Click here for this weekend’s list.
We had a great response when I mentioned it on Facebook, but we’re still looking for a few businesses interested in donating to our 24 Days of Holiday Giveaways this December. If you or someone you know is interested in helping out, click here.
Speaking of giveaways, you have until 11:59pm Sunday night to enter to win an Amazon Kindle Fire from Green Bay Consumer. We’re so happy to be able to give one lucky reader this fantastic prize valued at almost $200! And you don’t have to jump through hoops, become a fan of a dozen Facebook pages, leave a comment, etc. We’re all about low-maintenance and easy giveaways just for you!
We’ll be having a few more giveaways this fall to celebrate my favorite season so stick around!
I’ll be back here bright and early Sunday morning with Festival Foods, Target, and all the other posts you normally see here on Sundays.
Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

I love your posts !
It makes me feel on top of a few things and not so out of the loop.
I see that you mentioned the March of Dimes. Would you be interest in joining our committee in Green Bay? We are Always looking for more help and volunteers. We have our annual Chefs Auction coming up here in October.
Sometimes its easier when the volunteer has had experience and understands what the MOD does.
Please let me know what you think!
Blessings,
Dr. Julie
