When do you pay full price?

My entire house seems to be filled with clearance stickers.  More often than not, I wait to buy an item until I find a really good deal.

But sometimes, paying full price for something is worth it.

Take my scarf, pictured on the right.  Of course, the picture does not do it justice. Silk-viscose velvet burnout is bordered with black.  It has all my favorite colors, deep dark purple, lime green, pumpkin orange, peacock blue.  It goes with all my winter, fall and spring coats because I buy coats in my favorite colors!

I spent $35 for the scarf, which seemed very extravagant at the time.  You know what?  Every time I’ve worn it over the years, I get great satisfaction that I’ve gotten my money’s worth.  It also doesn’t hurt that every time I wear it, I get complimented on it! Every time.

I’m so glad that I didn’t wait for this item to go on sale because it never did.

Have you splurged on anything that turned out to be as wonderful as you hoped?

  2. I love that scarf! I still think of a scarf I DIDN’T buy when I was in Ireland because it was around $30. I really should have bought it.
Books. I know a lot of ways to buy books at a discount. But it doesn’t beat walking into my local bookstore where they know my name and always have what I need, even if it is (gulp!) full price.
