Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Green Bay Consumer
It’s time for Kristin and I to to sign off for the holidays. Because so few people visit the website between Christmas and New Year’s, we’ve decided to take the time off.
This year is a little different, though, because Kristin and I won’t be returning to write for Green Bay Consumer after the new year.
It’s been a nearly 4-year journey for myself (besides a brief respite this past spring where I cut back on my duties for a while). I’ve learned a lot of things in that time, and one of them is that it doesn’t matter who is behind the scenes of a site like this, the readers are interested in the content provided. Once a new writer is found for Green Bay Consumer, I’m sure you’ll continue to follow along, whether it’s on Facebook, the daily email, Google+, or Twitter.
I started my original site as a way to help friends and family save some money. I hope I’ve done that. I also did it as a way to encourage people to Pay It Forward when you did find a fabulous deal. There are always others in need, whether it’s groceries or toiletries or clothes. Grabbing a great deal can also mean extra donations to those that need it.
Along the way we’ve also provided consumer-related information that we hope you’ve found useful. Highlighting free or cheap events in the area has also been something we’ve enjoyed doing. We have also been able to provide many giveaways as a thank you to our readers.
Despite our love of Amazon.com, we’ve also tried to champion the locally-owned restaurants and stores along the way. Green Bay Consumer has provided a lot of free advertising for many area businesses, so I hope they have appreciated it.
Thank you to all of you that made purchases on Amazon.com, printed coupons through our site, or bought Groupons or Deal Chicken deals. They’ve helped the site survive if not necessarily make a huge profit.
Who knows what the future brings?
A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all. So long 2013, good luck in 2014!
