New American Girl has Wisconsin connection

American Girl released a new historical doll today. Her name is Caroline Abbott, and she has a Wisconsin connection!

All six of the American Girl historical books written about Caroline were done by Kathleen Ernst, a Wisconsin author. Ernst has written several other American Girl books and a couple of adult mysteries set at Old World Wisconsin; my daughters and I had the pleasure of meeting her when she came to a book signing at Barnes & Noble last fall.  In fact, Ernst is doing a book signing at the Madison Barnes & Noble today to kick off the book series.

Meet Caroline: An American Girl (American Girls Collection) and subsequent books retail for $6.95. However, right now on Amazon.com, you can get Caroline’s Boxed Set with Game (American Girl) for $23.97 which is $3.99 a book + a game. Cool!

Amazon.com traditionally has better prices on the mini-dolls than the American Girl website. Caroline Mini Doll is $16.31 right now (MSRP $23.99). I much prefer these to the larger dolls, not only for storage, but much easier on the pocketbook, too!   Click here to see more American Girls mini-dolls or books.

I mentioned this deal in the fall and for most of November, Amazon was sold out.  Happy to say that they are back in stock. You can get many of the American Girl mini dolls for as low as $14.21.  That’s  more than 30% off their regular price of $21.95. These are a great alternative to the 18-inch dolls which cost at least $100. The workmanship is just as nice as the bigger dolls and they even come with a mini paperback book.

This list of dolls marked down even includes the newest historical dolls, Marie-Grace and Cecile whose stories are based in 1853 New Orleans.

Ruthie is making her way into my oldest daughter’s stocking tonight for St. Nick. :-)

As you know, Amazon can change their prices or sell out at any time.

Kathleen Ernst, the author of several stories in the ‘American Girl Mystery’ series, will be visiting the Green Bay Barnes and Noble on November 4th at 4:30 pm.

Ernst will be on hand with some show-and-tell items about her American Girl books and will have souvenir bookmarks for your favorite girl.  She’ll also be doing book-signings.

In case American Girl isn’t up your alley, Kathleen Ernst is also the author of several adult mysteries including The Heirloom Murders (A Chloe Ellefson Mystery) and Old World Murder (A Chloe Ellefson Mystery).  She’ll be available at 7 pm that same night to discuss those books as well as have a book signing.

Autographed books make a great Christmas gift.  Just sayin’.

This deal I mentioned last month is still available. On Amazon.com you can get many of the American Girl mini dolls for as low as $14.27.  That’s  more than 30% off their regular price of $21.95. These are a great alternative to the 18-inch dolls which cost at least $100. The rest of the dolls listed are $14.97:
