Family Christian Stores has a Columbus Day sale where you can get 40% off one item with coupon code COLUMBUS40.  Two playsets that are very popular this time of year:  The Fisher Price Little People Playset is $25.79 (reg. $42.99) and the Peanuts Christmas Pageant set is $19.79 (reg. $32.99).

These two sets sell out all over the web and in stores every year during the holiday season. So if you want it for this year, now is the time to buy.  My kids absolutely love their sets and play with them throughout the entire year.

When ordering online, you can have the item shipped for FREE to the local Family Christian Store in Appleton.  Or you can also choose $.99 economy shipping.

National Tourism Day – Become a tourist in your home town

Hand-with-Passport-to-Green-Bay

Today is National Tourism Day.

We’ve mentioned it before, but it’s pretty easy to act like a tourist in Green Bay or your neighboring community and take advantage of the many things we forget about because we’re exposed to them on a daily basis.

Your local Visitor and Convention Bureau is a great place to start.  They usually have a tourist guide that features many local businesses as well as events.

Take plenty of photos or videos, but don’t go overboard.   I luuuv taking photos of the kids, but I also don’t want to be stuck behind the camera the whole time, either.  I want to enjoy the activities, too!  I usually find myself  taking a lot of photos at the beginning of one of our adventures, then sticking the camera away and taking part in the event.

With the help of our Kids Eat Free/Cheap posts and half-off deals from Groupon and Deal Chicken, you can eat out and at places you haven’t tried before.   I know our kids really enjoyed these  treats instead of going to all our “regular” haunts.

Create a passport for your “travels”.  Click here to check out Green Bay-based blog Life As a Field Trip for more information and the opportunity to print Green Bay-based passport or a generic one.  This gives the kiddos a souvenir of all the places you’ve explored. (Check out this long list of things our family did this summer with our “staycation” and summer passports).
