Happy Birthday to The Bargain Sleuth!
One year ago today I set up shop on Facebook as The Bargain Sleuth as a way to stop annoying my Facebook friends who didn’t live in the Green Bay area with the deals I was posting. What a year it has been!
April 17th, 2010: The Bargain Sleuth on Facebook is launched with 19 of my closest friends and family signing up right away
June 5th, 2010: 100 fans
Sept. 15, 2010: 200 fans
Oct. 30, 2010: 300 fans
Dec, 21, 2010: 400 fans
March 20, 2011: 500 fans
April 17, 2011: 530 fans
Thank you so much Colleen Dunkel, for my awesome logo. A few months after I started the Facebook page, I finally got around to getting my own logo (remember the picture of the baby in diapers with the Sherlock hat and magnifying glass?) I LOVE The Bargain Sleuth logo and hopefully when people think of me, they think of her very cool logo design.
I certainly never thought this many people would find out about my little blog, the Little Engine that Could, picking up a few fans each week thanks to old-fashioned word-of-mouth. Thank you to my fans for telling friends and family about The Bargain Sleuth, it shows that you think enough of what I post to tell others. I really do appreciate it. And I’ll keep doing my best to bring you the best of the best deals I see in the Green Bay area, mixed in with all the exceptional online deals I see, too.
And thanks to all the great “family” of bloggers I’ve gotten to “meet”: Shelly, Carrie, Jon, Jason, Mike & Lisa, Rose, Jill, Rita, Mary Jo and more. Thanks for the help, the ideas, and most importantly, the deals you send my way.
As I’ve mentioned before, with the first anniversary of my fifth “baby”, there are going to be some major changes, so stay tuned to see what’s in store!
Bloggers Greatest Hits
I read a LOT of money-saving blogs and websites (currently at 60 on my RSS feed and who knows how many on my Facebook news feed, maybe 15-20 more). And sometimes I think to myself “Hey, they beat me to the punch–I wanted to write something about that!” Since I realize you don’t read 70-80 blogs and I dislike repeating what others have said, I thought I’d try posting a round-up of some of my favorite posts. A few are deals I’ve seen, but most are “food for thought” articles you might enjoy:
Deals:
Printable Rebate Forms available
Free Tombstone Pizzas when you buy Hasbro games (up to FIVE FREE)
Food for Thought:
Are you a shelf clearer?
Couponing Lingo for Newbies
How I lost thousands of dollars (and other Coupon myths) Part 2
Open Dating on your pantry items
Seven Habits of Highly Successful Spenders
To Coupon or Not to Coupon, that is the question
Store Coupon Policies (please note that the Festival Foods listed is NOT our Festival Foods)
Weekly Shopping lists
It’s Sunday! Which means tons of new sales flyers to scour for deals even if you don’t get the paper. But you don’t have to do much work because there a lot of others out there doing it for you. And there’s no reason for me to repeat what’s already out there. Take a look:
- Totally Target match-ups for this week.
- Wild for Wags (Walgreens) match-ups for the week.
- I Heart CVS for match-ups.
- Menards deals and Rebates for this week
- This week’s Larry’s or Olsen’s Piggly Wiggly match-ups by GB Savers.
- Copps/Roundy’s/Pick-n-Save can be found HERE when the new week is posted. Since there aren’t previews, this usually winds up being Sunday night or Monday.
- Just like Copps, once it is compiled (usually by Sunday night), Festival Foods can be found HERE.
