One Click Digital: FREE source for digital audiobooks

Ever since I got my Kindle, I’ve used it a lot.  Especially once I learned that many e-readers also have speakers so you can listen to audio books.  That’s a perfect option for me because I rarely have time to sit down and physically read books.  But I can listen to them while I do other things.  Yes!  Multitasking at it’s best.

While you can get a free trial from Audible Audiobooks and then pay for a monthly membership, or use Overdrive (click here for more information), there are other places you can get audio books–for FREE.

Terra of Life as a Field Trip fills you in on a great Brown County Library resource called One Click Digital:

————————————————————————————————-

By now you know the library can be a great place to save money- free children’s and adult programing, a coupon basket, borrowing free movies and print books, and Overdrive for free ebooks and digital audiobooks. I love audiobooks. Love. Them. I listen to them every day when I’m driving, fixing dinner, clipping coupons, and exercising. I get all of my audiobooks whether on CD or digitally, from the library.

Free e-book downloads at your local library

I know a lot of people have gotten some form of e-reader for Christmas.    So I thought I’d re-post this article from last year for those who have entered the Kindle or Nook world.

The sky’s the limit when it comes to downloading books. I frequently download the Kindle Daily Deal because of the excellent prices.

If you’re looking to save money on downloads, many libraries across the nation are using Overdrive which allows patrons to “borrow” e-books through their local library.

Since I am not an expert on the subject, I thought I’d bring you someone who is. So I called upon my good friend Terra who wrote the following guest post.  Terra has been a librarian at Brown County Library for the past thirteen years.

————————————————————

Do you already have an e-book reader? Is a Kindle , nook or iPad on your Christmas list? Do you think you can’t afford to buy books to read on an e-book reader or portable device?

When I first bought my iPad I was thrilled with all the free e-books I found out there on Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and the Gutenberg Project, but then I started to want more selection. Sure I liked the classics and the oddball freebies, but I wanted more. That’s when I started using Overdrive.
