Stock up alert: Peanut Butter prices to rise
If you use a lot of peanut butter in your house, you may want to grab up a healthy supply when you find a good price ( I pay no more than $.10 an ounce and that is when I’m desperately low). The cause is an unseasonably hot and dry summer in peanut-growing areas.
According to the Wall Street Journal:
“Wholesale prices for big-selling Jif are going up 30% starting in November, while Peter Pan will raise prices as much as 24% in a couple weeks…Skippy [prices] are 30% to 35% higher than a year ago. Kraft Foods Inc., which launched Planters peanut butter in June, is raising prices 40% on Oct. 31.”
I was lucky enough to find the ginormous jars of Skippy on clearance for 1/2 off at Target a few weeks ago. And I had a few printable coupons (see below). So I’m set for a while but are you?
Here’s a rundown of peanut butter coupons that are currently available:
$0.75/1 Smart Balance Rich Roast Peanut Butters 10/9/2011 SS Insert (exp 11/23/2011)
$1/1 Smart Balance Rick Roast Peanut Butters 10/9/2011 SS Insert (exp 11/23/2011)
$0.50/1 Peter Pan Peanut Butter All You, Sept 2011 (exp 11/15/2011)
$0.60/2 Skippy Peanut Butter Products (Woodmans has the creamy and super chunk 15 oz for $1.99)
$1/1 Marantha But Butter Facebook coupon
Woodmans also has a $.35/1 hanging coupon for Planters peanut butter which sells for $1.99 a jar.
Of course, when Amazon.com has a good deal on Peanut Butter (which they sometimes do), I’ll let you know!
Thanks to my brother Dan for the alert.
Just a few days left for Amazon’s March grocery specials
Each month Amazon features certain food products on sale. This month there have been a few I’ve mentioned that are still on sale through the 31st. As with anything regarding Amazon, it’s important to know your prices before you browse, especially when it comes to groceries (and household goods, too–I just saw a blogger amazed at Bounty for $2.19 a roll when I picked some up at Target last week and the same size was less than a $1 a roll).
Prices fluctuate throughout the month so what might not be a good deal one day will be a smokin’ hot deal the next. I monitor Amazon.com for things that garner my interest as closely as investors watch the stock market. When the price drops, BUY!
Here are some things that are available for additional discounts when you use coupon codes AND also use Subscribe and Save:

REPOST: Skippy Peanut Butter 9 cents an ounce
One of those monthly deals on Amazon that I’ve been keeping an eye on is peanut butter since we go through a LOT of it. If I can find peanut butter for around 10 cents an ounce I’m a happy girl. Two items are approved by The Bargain Sleuth today if you choose Subscribe and Save as an option AND use code SKIPWISH at the checkout:
