Just wanted to remind all of you that Double D, Mr. Donald Driver of the Green Bay Packers, is going to be on Season 14 of Dancing With the Stars starting Monday, March 19th. The two-hour season opener begins at 7pm CST on WBAY-TV (ABC). We all know Driver has the moves on the field, but does he have what it takes to beat the likes of Martina Navratilova, Urkel or Half-Pint?

I’ll be watching the show as I clip coupons every Monday night.

Donald’s been Tweeting up a storm during rehearsals, so if you’ve got a Twitter account and don’t already follow him, his handle is donald_driver80 which is also fed to his Donald Driver Facebook account. You can also follow Donald’s dancing partner, Peta Murgatroyd.

Donald has not only been an outstanding player on the field, he and his wife Bettina have done a  lot of charitable work in the Green Bay area with the “Donald Driver Foundation.”   The organization offers support to many other places like Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Goodwill, just to name a few.  No matter how successful he’s gotten, he always remembers to Pay It Forward in innumerable ways.  In short, he’s one of the “good guys” that I will gladly support.

Don’t forget to vote after the show every week if you think Donald and Peta did well.  Packer Nation won’t disappoint, I’m sure, but this is supposed to be a competition, not just a popularity contest.

At any rate, Go Team Donald!

Toys for Tots–LAST CALL!

First off, did you know that if you LIKE on Facebook, $1 will be donated to the national US Marine Corps Toys for Tots program?  So what are you waiting for?  If nothing else, you can UN-like them after the promotion.  You have until December 20th to LIKE them.

Sarah Thomsen of WBAY-TV posted on her Facebook page tonight that

“Even though we did our Toys for Tots Last Call yesterday, there still aren’t enough toys for all the kids in need in Brown County… If you want to donate, you still can. Drop off toys at the Salvation Army on Union Court Monday, or at Shopko Hall in Ashwaubenon Tuesday and Wednesday during distribution. They could really use the extra donations!”

If you’re out there shopping, there are several national stores that are accepting cash donations for Toys for Tots, too:

I’ve always been a big supporter of Toys For Tots.  And this year it hits a little closer to home with my husband’s job loss.  If I had NOT been The Bargain Sleuth for all these years, who knows if we could have scraped together enough to make the kids’ Christmas a little brighter?  It’s because of my commando-shopping ways that we can give our kids a few toys but we can also give to those who are not so lucky.  I hope you do, too.
